Craig Douglas – Co-Founder

​Craig Douglas, co-founder of volumetricconcrete.uk, brings over three decades of experience in the UK’s concrete and haulage industries — combining hands-on operational expertise with a deep understanding of logistics, customer service, and concrete production.

Craig began his career in the early 1990s, driving concrete mixers for two of the UK’s most respected companies — Tilcon Concrete and Ready Mix Concrete Ltd (RMC). Both played key roles in shaping the country’s construction supply sector.

Tilcon, originally a leading supplier of aggregates and concrete, was later acquired by Tarmac, becoming part of one of the UK’s largest building materials groups. RMC Group was eventually acquired by CEMEX, one of the world’s foremost producers of concrete and aggregates. Working with these companies provided Craig with invaluable experience in large-scale concrete delivery, batching precision, and site operations.

After gaining extensive experience, Craig became an owner-operator, purchasing a drum mixer from Tilcon Concrete and running it under an owner-driver contract. Managing his own truck provided him with firsthand insight into the commercial and operational realities of concrete supply — from scheduling and site access challenges to ensuring consistent quality in every pour.

Following completion of that contract, Craig explored other sectors before returning to the haulage and waste management industry. He joined one of Scotland’s leading environmental and logistics companies, where he operated volumetric concrete mixers, 8-wheel tippers, road sweepers, and roll-on roll-off skips throughout Scotland.

Craig later transitioned to the sales team for waste management and construction hire services. Also, he provided volumetric concrete services on both day and night shifts, working closely with construction firms, infrastructure contractors, and utility providers.

​Today, through Waste Cloud Ltd, Craig oversees several national service platforms — including volumetricconcrete.uk and concretedelivery.uk — bringing together his technical experience and digital strategy to modernise how customers order and receive concrete across the UK.

Ross Burton – Operations Director

Ross Burton runs the day-to-day operations of Waste Cloud Ltd and is a co-founder of VolumetricConcrete.uk, overseeing scheduling, logistics, and customer coordination nationwide.

Ross started his career on the picking line of the waste transfer station at NWH Group, beginning at the very bottom rung of the ladder. His strong work ethic and eye for efficiency quickly earned him promotions — first to Weighbridge Operator, then Transport and Skip Coordinator, before advancing onto Operations Management with one of Edinburgh's biggest skip hire companies. The next step Ross took was as a Logistics Planner at a nationwide pallet distribution company, where he managed complex pallet and freight movements.

This solid foundation in logistics and waste management gives Ross a deep understanding of what it takes to deliver dependable, time-critical services. At Waste Cloud Ltd, Ross ensures every delivery runs smoothly — from out-of-hours concrete pours to same-day volumetric batching onsite.
